Who inspires me?

It is very important to look toward people, see what they are doing, take inspiration from them, and learn from them. Most of those who fit this bill in my world are canopy sports athletes. Rob who gave me my first wing, Matt my instructorPál Takáts, Jeb Corliss, and so on…

They are people I aspire to be like, not only because they can and have done amazing things, but because I see how they are ambitiously pursuing life and taking it for all its worth. This is something that only comes with great determination, forethought, and the right mindset. The conditions in which they live day-to-day serves to be a true testament that they have what it takes, not only to get through the day but so see many more. It is not without great consideration they fly. It is not with out great consideration they make any choices.

Recently I have found yet another face to look toward; in my blogs infancy I was excited to get a few followers and likes, most of which I discovered were only looking for web site traffic (which I can understand and respect). One like however brought me to a blog that really struck me. The content was very genuine, Continue reading

Simplify your life

Each day I put great thought into how I spend each moment, will spend each moment, and want to spend each moment.

The projects I have taken on both embody and promote the life style I believe in.  This includes paragliding, my small and ultra efficient home I am building, my passion for web development and what I aspire to use it for, even this very blog.

I have looked to many places for inspiration, and finding great success in many places and wasting time in others. One of the most valuable tools I have found (ever) is the simple living manifesto. I can not stress enough that you should read this. At the very least you should skim it over and let it make you think. I personally revisit this article regularly… its a priceless piece of work and I could never manage to get enough people to look at. I truly hope you do and that it does for you what it has done for me!

I ran across this quote today and just have to share it.

If you think you can do a thing or think you can’t do a thing, you’re right.

It was said by Henry Ford, and rings very true.  He has many good quotes that are well worth your time to look over.

I love hearing a good quote; nothing as better than a short statement that is both inspiring and thick with knowledge.

Embracing policy use

In my WordPress class we were prompted to participate in a discussion. It was in regard to policies on websites, our area of study this week.  We started embracing policy use in our class blogs and I will soon also be embracing policy use in this blog aswell, its a very powerful tool that can be and often is over looked

My contribution for the discussion…

Question 1. Why are these policies required, and should they be required on every type of site from personal to commercial?

Well they are required because they do two critical things. The first and most influential too your site is that you create the basis on which you and other interact with the site. This directly translates to a cleaner site, the site you intend to build. Secondly you are creating a safeguard for not only yourself but also your  Continue reading

What does a peaceful place look like?

I live in a very rural area, but seem to be constantly bombarded by an endless amount of things that demand my attention. Right now however I am sick, along with much of my family; as a result I am staying with my grandparents down in town. I am in a neighborhood that is surrounded by many busy streets and right by a hospital, but things could not be more peaceful. Why, you may ask? Well I suppose its because in not prompted my the noises I hear and things happening around me to react. Sure at home I would be surrounded my the woods with not much around, but I would not feel this disconnect I do now. The sound of the wind or rain would have me wondering what I should protect from damage outside, I would see laundry to do, people would need help with stuff. But here I am far away from all of those worries. There are two ways to get to this same peaceful place the way I see it. The first is to move your body the way I have, the second is to move your mind and not invest so much in everything happening around you. Both viable approaches, with pros and cons in each respect.

Getting high with friends!

Today was really fun, the local paragliding club just officially purchased Cliff Side; a paragliding/hang-gliding launch by the John Day Dam. So when I flew today I was accompanied by many great people; hang-gliders, paragliders, spectators, there was even some miniwings broke out!

Nothing is cooler than darting back and fourth in between a bunch of friends hundreds of feet up in the air rolls off huge cliffs.

I spent a lot of time today just playing with my wing and getting a feel of things, I first did this by keeping my wing close to stall and traversing the launch area like I was on the moon, taking twenty foot leaps Continue reading
