My Summer Goals…

Spring break not only got me thinking, but also gave me time to think. I took that time to, it was much needed! That being said I have fully decided upon a few simple goals that I want to knock out before the end of summer.

First and foremost I am ready to invest more in this site, and plan to do so. I have purchased hunterjnelson.com and will soon be migrating over to it. It is there I plan to not only host this blog but also would like to (will) create an interface in which all of my activities can be ‘monitored’, this way myself and others can visibly see what I am doing, how, and why.

What do I mean exactly? Well, I will…

  1. Still share on my blog.
  2. Have my calendar visible, and allow others to schedule events with me through it .
  3. Import my activity on social media some how.
  4. List my goals in a big way, creating a long-term plan that is both timely and detailed.

Once in place I will layout other goals I have worked up recently, to briefly name a few…

  • #1 Services, my automated lawn care company that will be up and running shortly.
  • LuckyWings a non-profit I would like to start-up.
  • Various paragliding goals.
  • Finishing construction of my house. Finally!

Hunterjnelson.wordpress.com has given me a place to share what I am working on, and what I aspire to do. Soon it shall do so in a whole new way, in accomplishing this one goal I will bring to light all others, large and small.

Who inspires me? Part 2

A few days ago I made a post about who inspires me, in which I looked at a few people I thought were just grand. I gave great attention as to what I found so inspiring in these people, focusing mostly one individual (joe seeber) that just recently began to catch my attention. In this post I would like to introduce yet another person that has quite simply rocked my world. He operates on the internet under the name, “NutnFancy”. His introduction starts with a short back story…

Who inspires me?

It is very important to look toward people, see what they are doing, take inspiration from them, and learn from them. Most of those who fit this bill in my world are canopy sports athletes. Rob who gave me my first wing, Matt my instructorPál Takáts, Jeb Corliss, and so on…

They are people I aspire to be like, not only because they can and have done amazing things, but because I see how they are ambitiously pursuing life and taking it for all its worth. This is something that only comes with great determination, forethought, and the right mindset. The conditions in which they live day-to-day serves to be a true testament that they have what it takes, not only to get through the day but so see many more. It is not without great consideration they fly. It is not with out great consideration they make any choices.

Recently I have found yet another face to look toward; in my blogs infancy I was excited to get a few followers and likes, most of which I discovered were only looking for web site traffic (which I can understand and respect). One like however brought me to a blog that really struck me. The content was very genuine, Continue reading

Simplify your life

Each day I put great thought into how I spend each moment, will spend each moment, and want to spend each moment.

The projects I have taken on both embody and promote the life style I believe in.  This includes paragliding, my small and ultra efficient home I am building, my passion for web development and what I aspire to use it for, even this very blog.

I have looked to many places for inspiration, and finding great success in many places and wasting time in others. One of the most valuable tools I have found (ever) is the simple living manifesto. I can not stress enough that you should read this. At the very least you should skim it over and let it make you think. I personally revisit this article regularly… its a priceless piece of work and I could never manage to get enough people to look at. I truly hope you do and that it does for you what it has done for me!

My approach to blogging (and life)

Sometimes you don’t know where you are going with things, in general. One things for sure though, there is somewhere you aspire to be. Maybe you cant put your finger on it or wouldn’t even know where to start. The best approach I see is to embrace this concept…

“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?

Embracing the things you love to do, or just trying something.  Just keep moving… you will find yourself on the right path.

Doing something over nothing is (I would argue) just important as knowing what your doing it for, or how it gets you there for that matter.

Winter goals update

So I am doing rather well with my winter goals, today being a rather monumental one. I finished Rocket Science Made Easy! This book is for my user experience class and I found it to be a very good one. It taught me many reasonable as well as tried and true approaches to testing usability in my projects; I am very excited for the class to start and already relieved that I knocked out so much work beforehand. I also have done some good work toward my other goals which were  to work, build on my house, and do codecademy courses. Along with finishing my book today I managed to get a lot of work done on the back wall of my house as well as clean it out… its inspiring to look at to say the least! I finished off working at the tree farm for this season, so not only do I have more time for my other goals but I also have some money to throw at my house. Last but not least I just made a great decision, I was really caught up in doing the JavaScript and JQuery courses on codecademy but have managed to let those go to the wayside for a bit and start on php. I could use help with fluency in JavaScript and JQuery but ultimately feel great about how much I can do with them, fluency will come in time and I do intent to revisit those courses just as I did HTML/CSS but when php is not such a high priority. Now that I am doing this a can (and will) correlate my reading and studying so I really get the bang for my buck. I have been simply elated to have all this time to work at my leisure this break and I’m excited for more.
